
St. Augustine is a great destination for both people and their dogs! Puppies (and their parents) like our walkable town, our many fur-friendly restaurants, and our miles of pet friendly beaches.
Your four legged friend will be fawned over by our attentive staff (warning: we love to hold our smallest guests!), and treated to a relaxing, luxurious getaway. Food and water bowls are available, as are pet treats, loaner leashes, and puppy popsicles during the summer months.
Our St. Augustine Hotel is in the ideal location for pet owners and is known as one of best dog friendly hotels in St. Augustine, Florida. Wake up early and go for a walk along St. Augustine’s peaceful seawall, or through the quiet streets. We’ll be happy to map a path for your fur baby!

Vilano Beach is a shell-filled beach, in a beautiful and quiet side of town.
To get there, go north on Avenida Menendez (the road right in front of the inn), you will drive to the outskirts of town (about 1.8 miles). When you see the merry-go-round on the left, take an immediate right onto the Usina Bridge. At the end of the bridge, you can visit the Publix Store on the right and pick up dog treats and cool water for your pet. Beach access is through the pavilion to the left of the Publix.
Alternatively, you can take a left at the end of the bridge, and park on any of the access roads on the right (our Beachcomber Cottages are the first right on A1A, and the Seaside Park is just a few streets further).
Local ordinance requires leashes at all times on the beach, as well as courtesy beach cleaning. If you run out of doggie bags, just ask us for more before you head out to the beach.

A beautiful walk in the park, for both you and your fur baby! This is where St. Augustine began in 1565. With more than 15 waterfront acres to explore, you and your pup will find plenty of activities to enjoy.
Visit the Timucua Indian village, look out from the 600-foot observation deck, take a sip of the water, and make friends with the peacocks that roam the property. Just keep Fido on a leash and clean up after him in the park.
Bonus: The Fountain of Youth is located on Magnolia Avenue…one of the most photogenic spots in St. Augustine. It’s a must stop for Instagrammers and Snap Chatters!

Visit the historic Lighthouse with your family and pup. Dogs, while on a leash, are welcome to the grounds and are asked to remain outside the historic buildings. Lighthouse officials retain the right to ask unruly pets to be taken off the property. (They will ask unruly owners to leave too!)

Located right in the middle of town, the Colonial Quarter offers a unique glimpse into 16-18th St. Augustine. Tours are offered throughout the day (the tour guides are excellent!) Learn to fire a musket, experience centuries-old woodworking (a wooden fishing vessel is being built using only hand tools on the property), and master 17th century games (we end up trying to throw the ring on the hook for at least 20 minutes whenever we go). The Colonial Quarter also has several restaurants within its walls—all of them have pet friendly patios.

The Oldest Wooden School House Historic Museum and Gardens is the oldest wood frame building in St. Augustine. Used as a school for the neighborhood children in the early 1800's and a guardhouse for soldiers during the Seminole War. If your dog likes bones, and you like cutting edge colonial surgery techniques, you’ll both love the guided tour at the Spanish Military Hospital Museum. Seriously, very interesting displays (even if there aren’t any discarded bones), and a great location on beautiful Aviles Street, the country’s oldest street.
