There Are Plenty of Things to Do With Your Pup in St. Augustine

Vilano Beach
Vilano Beach is a shell-filled beach, in a beautiful and quiet side of town. Local ordinance requires leashes at all times on the beach, as well as courtesy beach cleaning. We’ll even provide the doggie bags!

Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park
A beautiful walk in the park, for both you and your fur baby! This is where St. Augustine began in 1565. With more than 15 waterfront acres to explore, you and your pup will find plenty of activities to enjoy. Visit the Timucua Indian village, look out from the 600-foot observation deck, take a sip of the water, and make friends with the peacocks that roam the property. Just keep Fido on a leash and clean up after him in the park. BONUS TIP: The Fountain of Youth is located on Magnolia Avenue…one of the most photogenic spots in St. Augustine. It’s a must stop for Instagrammers and Snap Chatters!

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument
A monument not only of stone and mortar but of human determination and endurance, the Castillo de San Marcos symbolizes the clash between cultures which ultimately resulted in our uniquely unified nation. Still resonant with the struggles of an earlier time, these original walls provide tangible evidence of America’s grim but remarkable history.

St. Augustine Eco Tours
Choose from a wide variety of on-the-water adventures with your furry best friend and St. Augustine Eco Tours. You and Fido can enjoy kayak and sailing excursions as well as guided boat tours. Just make sure your pup is well behaved and calm—because you will see a lot of wildlife!

A Ghostly Encounter
Explore the otherworldly side of St. Augustine on A Ghostly Encounter tour. As you visit historic cemeteries and haunted buildings, you will hear tales of those who haunt the streets of the nation’s oldest city. Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to join you on your tour.

St. Augustine Lighthouse
Visit the historic Lighthouse with your family and pup. Dogs, while on a leash, are welcome to the grounds and are asked to remain outside the historic buildings. Lighthouse officials retain the right to ask unruly pets to be taken off the property. (They will ask unruly owners to leave too!)

Colonial Quarter
Located right in the middle of town, the Colonial Quarter offers a unique glimpse into 16-18th St. Augustine. Tours are offered throughout the day (the tour guides are excellent!) Learn to fire a musket, experience centuries-old woodworking (a wooden fishing vessel is being built using only hand tools on the property), and master 17th century games (we end up trying to throw the ring on the hook for at least 20 minutes whenever we go). The Colonial Quarter also has several restaurants within its walls—all of them have pet friendly patios.

Oldest Wooden School House
The Oldest Wooden School House Historic Museum and Gardens is the oldest wood frame building in St. Augustine. Used as a school for the neighborhood children in the early 1800’s and a guardhouse for soldiers during the Seminole War. Today you may tour the School House and learn the history and see what school was like in the 1800’s. BONUS TIP: The Oldest House boasts some of the most beautiful gardens in town. Don’t miss them!

Spanish Military Hospital Museum
If your dog likes bones, and you like cutting edge colonial surgery techniques, you’ll both love the guided tour at the Spanish Military Hospital Museum. Seriously, very interesting displays (even if there aren’t any discarded bones), and a great location on beautiful Aviles Street, the country’s oldest street. Lots of outdoor restaurants as well, perfect for a quick stop for a cold drink with your four legged friend.
