Do you have a favorite room at our inn? Before you answer, consider the Hopkins Cottage, our most recently renovated room. The Hopkins Cottage is in the front part of our building, built in the late 1800’s. It has an original brick wall and spectacular heart pine floors. But that’s where the nostalgia for the past ends.
You won’t find any doilies or knick-knacks in here–from the sleek new lighting (all on dimmers, perfect for romance) to the comfy leather chairs (the room has wifi, in case you have to work a little). This room is what Mike likes to call “Man Approved”. Have a hubby who says he doesn’t like bed and breakfasts? That’s because he’s never stayed at ours!! (Be sure to point out the large wall mounted flat screen when you show him the photos!) But wait, because there’s more. The tub is jetted, and a perfect way to relax after walking around St. Augustine all day. We’ve re-tiled around the tub, with a gorgeous glass tile that dances in the light with silvers and golds and bronzes.
But make sure you do, because we’ve got a hot southern breakfast each morning (served from 8 til 10–you choose the time, and the location…you can eat in our dining room, our gazebo, or our patio), and a great 2-hour happy hour (happy hours?) each night. Happy hour includes a selection of small bites (like Laverne’s bbq meatballs, our homemade salsa, Mary’s southern pork pies), a dessert (like Heloisa’s wicked rum cake, or Donna’s amazing chocolate balls), and a wide variety of beers and wines. Plus, we serve our signature Maringria, a selection of white OR red sangria that is practically world famous. The Hopkins Cottage is on the first floor, and it is pet friendly. Because it wouldn’t be Man Approved without allowing Man’s Best Friend, now would it??
