The Slow Food Movement

I’m sure you’ve heard about slow food. It’s the idea that fast food is shipped from thousands of miles, pre-processed, full of fats instead of flavor, and anything but fresh. In other words, fast food is bad.

Slow food, however, is fresh from the local farmer. Its flavor comes from heirloom varieties of food that our grandparents loved. Its taste comes from being picked and eaten in season.

Slow food is good.

Two weeks ago, we ate at Bistro de Leon. It brough a whole new meaning to slow food for me. We went there as part of the Flavors of Historic Florida promotion, which offers a prix fixe menu for some of the best restaurants in tonw.
