It sounds like summer!
Summer concerts and live music are alive and well in St. Augustine, and tonight is the FIRST free concert in the plaza (just three blocks from the inn). Borrow one of our beach chairs, and enjoy a free concert from 7-9pm.
That’s not all: every Wednesday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. locals and visitors alike bring a chair and a cooler to St. Johns County Pier Park for the Music by the Sea Concert series. A great breeze usually comes off the water, and there is lots of camraderie between the concert goers.
This summer, the award-winning St. Augustine Amphitheatre and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall host top names in rock, pop, country, blues, soul, reggae, contemporary and acoustic. If you haven’t been to our two music venues, you need to go to www.staugamphitheatre.com and check them out. The Ampitheatre is just across the Bridge of Lions (about a 5 minute drive from the inn), and seats just 3500 for a great intimate music experience. For a *really* intimate experience, check out the schedule at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, www.pvconcerthall.com. Held in an old converted church, it’s just you and a couple hundred people listening to such greats as Art Garfunkle, David Crosby, Todd Rundgren, and the Zombies (those are all concerts we personally checked out).
Through August bands and performers include Rebelution, Stick Figure, and Through the Roots. Sublime, Barenaked Ladies, Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark, Howard Jones and Twenty-One Pilots. MY2K featuring 98 Degrees with O-Town, Dream and Ryan Cabrera. Slightly Stoopid, Ray LaMontagne and Goo Goo Dolls all round out this hot schedule of summer concerts.
But wait…there’s more!
The Limelight Theatre’s ongoing Music in the Box live acoustic series brings the area’s best up-and-coming bands and musicians to the stage.
And of course any day or night of the week you’ll enjoy the live music wafting from local restaurants and taverns. It’s a magic combination–St. Augustine, summer, music, and fun!
