Here’s a blog we hope you never have to use: a list of emergency centers in St. Augustine. Note: if this is an urgent emergency, call 911. The inn’s address is 142 Avenida Menendez–just south of the Bridge of Lions. The ambulance can park in our loading zone.
If this isn’t an EMERGENCY, but more of an *emergency*, you can read on.
It’s always awful when you hurt, but it seems even worse when you’re on vacation. The hub and I are actually experts at this–we’ve had the flu on vacation (including one exciting time in the Caribbean when the handsome doctor said he hoped it wasn’t dengue fever because that would mean a lot of extra paperwork for him), Sandy has scratched her cornea multiple times (she’s not clumsy–it’s a syndrome), and we’ve had a gall bladder emergency. Knowing where to go may not make things better, but it certainly helps.
Here are some centers that can help you when your vacation doesn’t go as planned. We’ve listed websites and phone numbers; we suggest you contact each medical center before you drive there to double-check their directions, hours, and availability.
Flagler Hospital. www.flaglerhospital.org. St. Augustine is lucky to have one of the top hospitals in the country, just two miles from the inn. The hospital emergency room is open 24 hours, and can handle all types of emergencies. It has 48 beds, and has a nationally recognized chest pain and stroke center. Find them at 400 Health Park Boulevard–take a left on King then a left on Route 1. Flagler is about 2 miles south, on the left (the Ponce de Leon mall is on the right). 24 Hours/7 Days. 904.819.5155.
Care Spot St. Augustine. www.carespot.com/carespot-urgent-care/st-augustine-fl/ . Directly across from the hospital is an urgent care center, next to the Ponce de Leon mall. Monday – Friday, 8am – 8pm. Sat and Sunday, 8am – 6pm. 904.469.7913.
Healing Arts Urgent Care. Sandy has personally used this center, and loves it. The people are wonderful, and the wait was never long (she even used one of the doctors there as her primary doctor for a time). They handle stitches, chronic illnesses, rashes, eye injuries–and even do Pap smears and prostate exams (not what you want to do on vacation probably, but good to know!). Find them at 120 Health Park Boulevard, in the Flagler Hospital compound–take a left on King, a left on Route 1, and 2 miles later turn at the Flagler Sign. The Healing Arts building is on the left, prior to the hospital. Monday – Friday, 8am – 7pm. Saturday 8am – 4pm. Holidays 8am – 4pm, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. 904.823.3401.

Want to walk? There is a small shop in the pirate store at the Marina that has basic items like band-aids, Tylenol, etc. Just take a left outside of the inn, and walk a little over a block. You’ll see the marina on the right (it’s right after the Santa Maria). The gift shop is inside, on the right.
We’re sorry for (hopefully) wasting your time! Have a happy and healthy stay in St. Augustine!
