Ghost Tours in St. Augustine

St. Augustine is a pretty spirited place all year round, but the spookiness really amps up for October!

There are lots of options for ghost tours in St. Augustine–whether you want to walk, or ride, or even climb some stairs to the top of the lighthouse. There are even some that focus on the real spirits in haunted pub crawls through the town! Read on for details of some of our favorite ghost tours in St. Augustine.

The Haunted Travelers Company is offering a complimentary “Speaking of Spirits” tour and Introduction to the Paranormal  on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays throughout October. Tours start at 11am and 2 pm, and take approximately 45 minutes (you meet at Gimme Some Sugar on King Street).

Your guide will go over questions about paranormal tracking, why St. Augustine is so haunted, how does ghost hunting equipment work, and more.

Let us know if you’re interested in this free event–it is by reservation only. Just let us know when you’d like to go, and we’ll take care of the rest.

If that whets your appetite for more spooky info, check out The Haunted Travelers’ other offerings, including A Night Among Ghosts, Moonlight & Macabre, and Haunted Hallows Ghost Tour. These tours are longer, but offer more of the real history of St. Augustine, mixed in with a little real spookiness as well. It’s a great way to, excuse the pun, creep it real! While you’re planning your October trip to St. Augustine, here are some of the other ghost tours available around town:

Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour in St Augustine.

A haunted excursion at the St. Augustine Lighthouse, focusing on stories of the old lighthouse keepers and the lighthouse itself. Both tours offer the ability to rent EMF (electromagnetic field) meters. Tours offered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in October at 9:45. Tours last approximately 2 hours. But hurry–these seats book up faster than the Snickers bars will disappear from your Halloween take. www.staugustinelighthouse.org/visit/expand-your-visit/

Ghostly Experience Walking Tour.

Walk through town with a costumed tour guide carrying a period lantern and hear en-light-ening stories about the massacres, pirate raids and epidemics that have plagued St. Augustine since it was founded over 450 year ago. Tours leave every night from 4 Granada Street, and last approximately 75 minutes. www.ghosttoursofstaugustine.com

Ghosts and Gravestones Trolley of the Damned.

If you walked all day through St. Augustine’s narrow streets, you might feel sufficiently exorcised, and  you might want to sit a spell for your evening ghost tour. This tour starts at the new Welcome Center on San Marco, and includes several brief walking stops during the 80 minute tour, including the Oldest Jail, the Oldest Store, and Potter’s Wax Museum. Trick or treat yo’self to a comfy chauffeured tour of our cemeteries and more on this tour operated by the Green Trolley. Tours available 7 nights a week. www.ghostsandgravestones.com.
