Flowers of the Day: Yellow Hibiscus

FLowers in St. AugustineIt is amazing how many people stop to take pictures of our yellow hibiscus.

I planted them two years ago because I wanted something bright and sunny…and I wanted a deep, vibrant yellow (not a lemony color). The red centers of this variety makes them seem even more sunshine-y.

And the best news of all? They’re miniatures…so I don’t have to prune them all the time. The only downside is that hibiscus are tropical, so the hub and I have to cover them if it dips to freezing temperatures in the winter. But even so, they’re totally worth it.

What’s your favorite flower?
